About the Role

Jimoh Babalola University (JBU), a premium, fully licensed private higher education institution in Ilorin, Kwara State, is seeking a competent and proactive Works Maintenance Officer to join its facilities management team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the university's buildings, utilities, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and well-maintained, supporting JBU's mission of academic excellence built on clarity, capacity, and civility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of university buildings, facilities, and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance works, including civil, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors, artisans, and vendors on repair works and facility upgrades.
  • Prepare accurate reports, maintenance logs, and estimates of works to be carried out.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and building regulations during all maintenance operations.
  • Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, materials, and tools effectively.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations across campus.
  • Liaise with relevant university departments to minimize disruption during maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, equipment, and building conditions.
  • Support estate management and building technology initiatives aimed at improving campus infrastructure.

Qualifications
  • HND in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Estate Management, or Building Technology.
  • Minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/WAEC/O-Level, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Evidence of completion of NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance tasks efficiently.
