About the Role

West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a premier indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos State, Nigeria, dedicated to safe, efficient, and sustainable hydrocarbon exploration and production. We are currently looking for a skilled Well Operations Supervisor to provide frontline leadership for our offshore well activities. In this critical role, you will ensure the safe and efficient execution of well production, intervention, integrity, testing, and workover operations while maintaining strict adherence to well-control and HSE standards across our West African assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise offshore well operations including well start-up, shut-in, testing, intervention support, and integrity activities.
  • Provide operational leadership for wellhead and Christmas tree activities while ensuring the integrity of safety-critical well barriers.
  • Coordinate slickline, e-line, coiled tubing, nitrogen lifting, well testing, and workover operations.
  • Verify well programmes, operating procedures, risk assessments, permits, isolations, and barrier requirements prior to execution.
  • Monitor well pressures, annuli, operating parameters, and abnormal trends, ensuring timely escalation and corrective action.
  • Supervise pressure testing, leak troubleshooting, and controlled well reinstatement activities.
  • Lead pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and operational readiness reviews.
  • Ensure full compliance with well-control principles, Well Integrity Management System requirements, SIMOPS, and MOC processes.
  • Maintain accurate daily well reports, activity records, pressure documentation, and operational handovers.
  • Coach junior personnel and promote strong well-control discipline and safe operating behaviors.
Qualifications
  • HND or Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or a related Engineering/Technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of relevant upstream well operations experience, with substantial offshore supervisory exposure.
  • Demonstrable hands-on expertise with surface wellheads, Christmas trees, well intervention, pressure-control equipment, and well-integrity activities.
  • Valid IWCF or IADC well-control certification at an appropriate supervisory level is strongly preferred.
  • Valid offshore medical, BOSIET/HUET, and relevant H2S/emergency response certifications.
