About the Role
WTS Energy is a leading global manpower supply and consulting firm to the international oil, gas, and energy industries. We are currently recruiting a Well Engineer Specialist for Drilling Fluid and Cuttings to provide vital technical assurance for drilling fluids and waste management. Based in Lagos or Port Harcourt with regular travel to offshore and onshore rig sites, this role plays a crucial part in optimizing drilling performance, maintaining wellbore stability, and ensuring strict adherence to environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop customized drilling and completion fluid programs aligned with specific well objectives and formation characteristics.
- Provide expert technical input during well planning, design reviews, and drilling program execution.
- Monitor drilling fluid performance continuously to ensure effective hole cleaning and pressure management.
- Troubleshoot complex fluid challenges such as losses, contamination, and differential sticking to minimize operational downtime.
- Oversee the handling, treatment, and sustainable disposal of drill cuttings and effluents in compliance with Nigerian regulations and company standards.
- Coordinate waste management contractors and service providers to ensure efficient processing and containment.
- Track fluid consumption, inventory levels, and service costs against approved budgets to maintain strict cost control.
- Lead rig-site fluids teams and collaborate closely with Well Operations Supervisors, SCM, and HSE personnel.
- Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of dedicated experience in drilling fluids engineering and drilling waste management within oil and gas operations.
- Mandatory IWCF Drilling Supervisor Level certification, BOSIET, and relevant HSE certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA.
- Extensive knowledge of water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based drilling fluid systems.
- Proven expertise in solids control, filtration systems, and effluent treatment technologies.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, API standards, and ISO compliance requirements.
