About the Role
Lindii Peace Foundation (LPF) is a dynamic Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to community development, peacebuilding, and humanitarian response in Nigeria. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Water Operator and Chlorinator (OPC) to join our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) team on a short-term contract in Demsa LGA, Adamawa State. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of designated water supply systems, ensuring the safe and consistent delivery of clean water to targeted communities through proper chlorination and treatment processes.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and maintain assigned water supply systems, boreholes, and treatment facilities in accordance with approved safety and operational procedures.
- Carry out routine chlorination of water using approved methods, ensuring precise chlorine dosing and regular quality checks.
- Monitor water points, pumps, storage tanks, pipelines, and generators for optimal functionality and promptly report technical faults.
- Maintain accurate daily records of water production, chemical usage, chlorine residual levels, and equipment performance.
- Handle, store, and utilize water-treatment chemicals safely while strictly adhering to occupational health and safety standards.
- Conduct basic preventive maintenance and collaborate with community water committees to promote proper facility usage and protection.
- Support WASH field assessments, water quality testing, and general project monitoring activities as directed by the WASH Supervisor.
- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC/NECO; OND, HND, or technical training in Water Resources, Public Health, Environmental Health, or Engineering is a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in operating water supply systems, boreholes, or chlorination facilities, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian setting.
- Practical knowledge of water treatment chemistry, chlorination processes, and basic water-quality monitoring.
- Familiarity with pumps, generators, valves, and related water infrastructure along with basic troubleshooting skills.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding principles, health and safety regulations, and community accountability standards.
- Good command of local languages and familiarity with the Demsa LGA context will be considered strong assets.
