About the Role
The Digital Rights and Mental Health Initiative (DRMHI) Africa is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer MHPSS Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our mental health and psychosocial support activities, community awareness initiatives, and wellbeing programs at the critical intersection of digital labor and psychological health. Key Responsibilities- Support the planning and implementation of core MHPSS activities and community awareness initiatives.
- Assist with community engagement, sensitization, and the identification and referral of individuals requiring specialized support.
- Support MHPSS-related assessments, research activities, and the preparation of comprehensive progress reports.
- Participate actively in relevant team meetings, capacity-building trainings, and stakeholder workshops.
- Assist in developing engaging MHPSS communication and educational awareness materials.
- Promote safe, respectful, and inclusive engagement while strictly maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Report safeguarding and protection concerns promptly through approved organizational channels.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Possession of a BSc or HND from a recognized tertiary institution, preferably with a background in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Sociology, Public Health, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated passion and strong interest in mental health, digital rights, and psychosocial support.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of empathy, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Possession of a working personal laptop and reliable internet access for remote tasks.
- Minimum availability of ten (10) hours per week with willingness to prepare and implement bi-monthly work plans.
- Ability to respond promptly to official DRMHI communication within one (1) hour during agreed availability periods.
- Willingness to report physically on a periodic basis as agreed with the DRMHI management team.
