About the Role

The Anambra State Government is seeking a dedicated and qualified Vehicle Inspection Superintendent to join our transport administration team. In this role, you will play a critical part in upholding road safety standards, enforcing state transport regulations, and ensuring that all commercial and private vehicles operating within the state meet established mechanical and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mechanical and physical inspections of commercial and private vehicles to ensure compliance with state and national safety standards.
  • Supervise daily operations at designated inspection centers across Anambra State to maintain high service delivery.
  • Identify vehicle defects, issue appropriate roadworthiness certifications, and recommend necessary repairs or impoundments when standards are breached.
  • Maintain accurate digital and physical records of all inspected vehicles, compliance rates, and revenue generation activities.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and transport unions to enforce traffic laws and promote safe motoring habits.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior inspection officers on modern automobile diagnostic techniques.
Qualifications
  • Possession of an OND or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or any related engineering course from a recognized Polytechnic or tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automobile systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and vehicle safety standards.
  • Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with the public and transport operators.
  • Basic computer literacy for maintaining electronic vehicle inspection logs and report generation.
