About the Role
Jumia is Nigeria's top online shopping destination, offering a wide range of electronics, fashion, home appliances, and more with convenient payment options like payment-on-delivery. We are currently looking for a dynamic and results-driven Transport Dispatch Team Lead to oversee our daily dispatch operations in Abuja. In this role, you will leverage advanced logistics systems to optimize routing, maximize fleet efficiency, and ensure exceptional delivery performance while collaborating closely with warehouse, driver, and customer service teams.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily dispatch activities, including vehicle allocation, route planning, and load optimization to maximize fleet efficiency and minimize delays.
- Utilize Jumia's logistics systems and Transport Management Systems (TMS) to create dynamic routes aligned with real-time demand, traffic, and delivery SLAs.
- Publish daily capacity plans based on shipment volume and size mix while coordinating pickup capacity with dispatch agents and third-party logistics partners.
- Manage co-loader and fleet contractor relationships, negotiating for competitive pricing and handling financial reconciliations.
- Track critical performance metrics such as on-time delivery rates, vehicle utilization, and turnaround times, implementing data-driven continuous improvements.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams, drivers, and customer service to swiftly resolve escalations and manage return shipments.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly reports for senior management, highlighting performance trends, variances, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Proven professional experience in logistics, transportation, or fast-paced dispatch operations.
- High proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS), route optimization software, and data analysis tools including Excel.
- Strong team management skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
- Mandatory completion of the NYSC program or possession of a valid exemption letter.
- Must currently reside in Abuja, Nigeria.
