About the Role
Promasidor, a leading multinational food manufacturing company renowned for iconic brands like Cowbell, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Tractor Operator - Forage Harvester to join our agricultural operations in Nigeria. In this role, you will be responsible for operating advanced machinery to harvest, chop, and process forage crops efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment care.
Key Responsibilities- Operate John Deere forage harvesters and associated agricultural equipment safely and productively.
- Perform thorough pre-start and post-operation equipment inspections, ensuring all daily maintenance checks are completed.
- Adjust machine parameters based on crop types, moisture levels, and field conditions to optimize forage quality.
- Coordinate seamlessly with transport and field operations teams to minimize crop loss and downtime.
- Adhere strictly to farm Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, including proper lockout procedures and PPE usage.
- Accurately record daily fuel consumption, operating hours, and harvesting output.
- Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or relevant technical/agricultural certification.
- 2 to 5 years of proven experience operating forage harvesters or heavy agricultural machinery.
- Demonstrated expertise working with John Deere agricultural equipment is strongly preferred.
- Basic mechanical understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Strong safety consciousness and the ability to maintain alertness during extended hours.
