About the Role

Paras Energy, a leading diversified power generation and distribution company in Nigeria, is seeking a dedicated Testing & Commissioning Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will oversee the successful energization and handover of commercial and industrial Solar PV projects, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards across all our nationwide operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute comprehensive testing and commissioning activities for Solar PV projects, including DC and AC electrical systems before energization.
  • Carry out rigorous testing of PV modules, string combiner boxes, inverters, LT/HT panels, transformers, and cables.
  • Perform critical electrical assessments such as insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, earth resistance, and IV curve tracing.
  • Conduct high-tension (HT) equipment testing, including VCB, RMU, transformers, CT/PT, and protection relays.
  • Verify SCADA systems, monitoring setups, energy meters, and communication signals.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with grid utilities, clients, EPC contractors, and internal construction teams for successful synchronization and grid charging.
  • Prepare accurate testing and commissioning checklists, comprehensive test reports, and formal project handover documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven professional experience in testing and commissioning of Solar PV plants and HT/LT electrical systems.
  • Deep understanding of electrical protection systems, relay coordination, and string/central inverters.
  • Proficiency in reading Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical schematics, and cable schedules.
  • Hands-on expertise with specialized testing equipment such as Meggers, earth testers, relay test kits, and IV curve tracers.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical safety standards, LOTO procedures, and relevant Nigerian grid codes.
