About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Technologist I to join our Department of University Laboratories within the Laboratory Technical Services unit. In this vital role, you will ensure the smooth operation of our state-of-the-art laboratories, supporting faculty members and students in delivering high-standard practical training and cutting-edge research.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring optimal functionality of all equipment and instrumentation.
- Support academic staff in conducting practical laboratory sessions, demonstrations, and undergraduate or postgraduate research activities.
- Implement and maintain strict quality assurance, laboratory safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory apparatus and devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of laboratory chemicals, reagents, and consumable supplies.
- Ensure proper waste management and compliance with environmental and health safety regulations within the facility.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Current and appropriate professional registration or license where applicable.
- Demonstrated relevant post-qualification working experience commensurate with the Technologist I cadre.
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern laboratory equipment, safety standards, and quality assurance practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students and academic staff.
