About the Role

Access Bank Plc is recruiting a dynamic and experienced Team Lead, Database Management to join our robust IT team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role (Job Grade: AM - MGR), you will oversee the availability, performance, and integrity of critical database infrastructures supporting our wholesale banking and enterprise platforms. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring disaster recovery readiness, maintaining compliance with security policies, and driving technical excellence across our subsidiary and project database environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out database capacity planning, review complex SQL codes, and provide technical guidance during new application deployments.
  • Design and implement database backup policies, disaster recovery measures, and failover protocols to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor database sizes, perform regular health checks, and execute performance tuning for optimal availability.
  • Interface with infrastructure, application, and IT teams to deliver effective L3 support and incident resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with the bank's security and access policies while actively remediating internal and external audit vulnerabilities.
  • Provide transformational leadership, technical mentoring, and capacity development to team members.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, Computer Science, Database Management, or a related discipline (Master's degree is an added advantage).
  • Minimum of 7 years of core database management experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Mandatory certifications include ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF, and Oracle OCP/OCE Database Certified Master.
  • Deep proficiency in Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server, coupled with strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
