About the Role

African Natural Resources & Mines Limited (ANRML), part of African Industries Group, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Switchyard Engineer to join our expanding operations in Kaduna State. In this critical role, you will oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of high-voltage switchyard and substation electrical systems to support our large-scale industrial activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor daily operations of switchyard equipment and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Operate and maintain transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs/CVTs, busbars, and surge arresters.
  • Monitor electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, power factor, and transformer loading.
  • Coordinate planned, preventive, and corrective maintenance of all switchyard equipment.
  • Conduct thorough equipment inspections to identify abnormalities, defects, and potential failures.
  • Ensure proper switching operations, isolation procedures, and LOTO compliance are strictly followed.
  • Investigate electrical incidents, trips, and equipment failures while participating in root-cause analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to electrical technicians and operators.
  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian and international electrical safety codes, company standards, and HSE requirements.
Qualifications
  • Possess a B.Tech, B.E., or HND in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant hands-on experience in switchyard, power plant, transmission, or high-voltage electrical operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical protection, control, and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity working with 11kV, 33kV, 132kV, or higher-voltage systems is highly advantageous.
  • Prior experience in heavy industry, mining, or large-scale manufacturing plants is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications will be considered an added advantage.
