About the Role
Nigerdock Nigeria Plc - FZE is West Africa’s leading industrial corporation focused on oil and gas construction, major marine services, shipbuilding, and port operations, strategically located on Snake Island Integrated Free Zone in Lagos. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Stevedore Supervisor to join our operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating stevedoring activities to ensure cargo loading and discharge operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved stowage plans, HSE standards, and port regulations, serving as the operational link between vessel officers and terminal management.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily stevedoring operations including cargo loading, discharge, lashing, unlashing, and tallying activities.
- Compute and prepare labor payments input information while managing workforce deployment onboard and ashore.
- Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies, PPE usage, toolbox talks, and safe work procedures to prevent accidents.
- Collaborate with shipping agents to meet expected time of departure (ETD) targets and minimize vessel idle time at berth.
- Control workforce operations to prevent overloading of nets and slings, avoiding operational hazards and accidents.
- Maintain and report detailed operational logs regarding vessel commencement, close of operations, and manpower utilization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Port Operations, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in stevedoring, port operations, logistics planning, or maritime documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of cargo handling procedures, vessel stowage plans, and maritime documentation.
- Demonstrated experience enforcing HSE standards, conducting toolbox talks, and managing incident reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and operational documentation tools.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
