About the Role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (Iita) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic State Helpdesk Officer to join our team in Plateau State. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for program participants, community members, and key stakeholders, driving our mission to enhance food security, youth agribusiness development, and sustainable livelihoods across Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the state-level program help desk across in-person, phone, and digital channels, delivering timely and courteous support to participants and partners.
  • Provide clear guidance on program eligibility, application procedures, training schedules, and support services including finance linkage and starter kits.
  • Log and route feedback, inquiries, and safeguarding-sensitive complaints in strict adherence to institutional protocols.
  • Support community sensitization and outreach, prioritizing engagement with young women, persons with disabilities, and internally displaced youth.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date databases of inquiries, referrals, and resolutions for accurate periodic reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with state team members to ensure consistent messaging and seamless event coordination.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in customer service, front desk operations, community engagement, or public-facing roles within an NGO or development program.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, with professional fluency in English and local languages spoken in Plateau State.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital communication tools.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness, patience, discretion, and a high level of integrity when handling sensitive conversations.
  • Willingness to travel locally within the state to community locations and Youth Agribusiness Parks.
