About the Role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dynamic, customer-focused State Helpdesk Officer to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will serve as the primary contact for prospective participants, community members, and partners, ensuring smooth communication and exceptional support for our transformative agricultural development programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the state-level program help desk in person, by phone, and through digital channels, providing timely responses to program inquiries.
  • Deliver accurate information regarding eligibility, application procedures, training schedules, and support services.
  • Log and route participant feedback and safeguarding-sensitive complaints according to institutional protocols.
  • Support community sensitization and outreach, focusing on young women, persons with disabilities, and internally displaced youth.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date databases of inquiries, referrals, and resolutions for periodic reporting.
  • Assist with event coordination, registration, and attendance tracking during training sessions and Youth Agribusiness Park events.
  • Uphold IITA safeguarding, confidentiality, and code-of-conduct standards across all stakeholder interactions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in customer service, front desk operations, or community engagement, preferably within an NGO.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with fluency in English and local languages.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, empathy, and professionalism in managing sensitive conversations.
  • Willingness to travel locally within the state for community outreach and events.
