About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated State Helpdesk Officer to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for program participants, community members, and stakeholders, ensuring they receive timely, accurate information and exceptional support. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful agricultural research and youth agribusiness development across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the state-level program help desk in person, by phone, and through digital channels, responding promptly to participant and community enquiries.
- Provide accurate details regarding program eligibility, application procedures, training schedules, and support services including finance linkage and mentorship.
- Log and route feedback, queries, and safeguarding-sensitive complaints in strict compliance with program feedback mechanisms.
- Support community sensitization and outreach campaigns, focusing on inclusivity for young women, persons with disabilities, and internally displaced youth.
- Maintain an organized database of enquiries, referrals, and resolutions to generate periodic activity reports for the State Field Coordinator.
- Assist with event coordination, registration, and attendance tracking during training sessions and Youth Agribusiness Park events.
- Uphold IITA standards of confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional code of conduct in all stakeholder interactions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in customer service, front desk operations, or community engagement within an NGO or development setting.
- Fluency in English and local languages, with strong interpersonal, listening, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital communication tools for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- High level of integrity, patience, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally.
- Willingness to travel locally within the state for community locations and agribusiness parks.
