About the Role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated State Helpdesk Officer to join our team in Abuja. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for prospective and enrolled participants, community members, and partners, ensuring they receive exceptional service and accurate information regarding our agricultural development programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the state-level program help desk in person, by phone, and through digital channels to respond to enquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Provide comprehensive details on program eligibility, application procedures, training schedules, and support services including finance linkage and starter kits.
  • Log and route participant feedback, questions, and safeguarding-sensitive complaints in alignment with organizational protocols.
  • Support community sensitization activities with a strong focus on inclusion for young women, persons with disabilities, and internally displaced youth.
  • Maintain accurate databases of enquiries, referrals, and resolutions to generate periodic summary reports for the Program Management Office.
  • Coordinate with state team members during training sessions, cohort enrolments, and Youth Agribusiness Park events.
  • Uphold IITA safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional code-of-conduct standards across all stakeholder interactions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in customer service, community engagement, or front desk operations within an NGO or development setting.
  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages, combined with a deep understanding of the local community context.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital communication tools.
  • Demonstrated patience, discretion, and conflict resolution skills with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Willingness to travel locally within the state to community locations and agribusiness parks.
