About the Role
Extension Africa (EXAF) is a data-driven agritech platform providing private extension services to agricultural value chain actors. Through our grassroots network, we catalyze market-led partnerships that build competitive value chains, expand smallholder access to resources, and create sustainable economic opportunities. We are seeking a dedicated State-Based Program Officer to drive our impact-driven initiatives and manage field activities effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Lead donor-funded development initiatives by translating strategic work plans into high-impact field activities.
- Train smallholder farmers and grassroots extension agents on modern, efficient agricultural techniques.
- Drive the adoption of climate-smart agriculture and ICT4Ag digital extension practices across communities.
- Maintain rigorous data quality, monitoring, and reporting against established project results frameworks.
- Build and certify last-mile rural structures, including Farmer Business Associates and vendors, for seamless handover to the Commercial Arm.
- Collaborate closely with local cooperatives, government structures, and community-level stakeholders at the state and LGA levels.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop or Soil Science, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in agricultural or rural development projects, with NGO or donor-funded experience being highly preferred.
- Hands-on technical experience with climate-smart agriculture principles and ICT4Ag tools.
- Proven proficiency in using digital data collection platforms such as ODK, KoboCollect, and advanced MS Excel.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, training, and managing community-level agents or field networks.
- Complete fluency in English and the predominant local language of the region.
- Mandatory residency in or willingness to relocate to the specified state.
