About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced State Administrative and Logistic Officer to support our operations in Ebonyi State. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our agricultural research and development initiatives by ensuring seamless administrative, logistical, and financial coordination at the state level. You will collaborate closely with local stakeholders, project coordinators, and national teams to drive food security and sustainable livelihoods in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate logistics for state-level activities including training sessions, workshops, community events, and Youth Agribusiness Park programs.
- Manage comprehensive administrative functions such as office supplies, asset registers, utilities, and vendor service contracts.
- Handle local, low-value procurement in compliance with IITA policies and coordinate consolidated requests with national procurement.
- Oversee the receipt, inventory, and distribution of program materials and starter kits to participants with accurate record-keeping.
- Supervise state drivers, manage vehicle scheduling, maintenance, fuel consumption, and safety compliance.
- Manage petty cash, prepare financial retirements, and submit timely expenditure returns to the Project Accountant.
- Support human resources administration including staff onboarding, attendance tracking, and local travel coordination.
- Liaise with local government authorities, community leaders, and facility managers to foster positive stakeholder relations.
- Ensure strict adherence to IITA safeguarding, health, safety, and security protocols across all operational activities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant administrative and logistics experience, preferably within an NGO or research institute.
- Strong working knowledge of Ebonyi State, local government structures, and community dynamics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a multidisciplinary team.
