About the Role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a leading research-for-development organization committed to solving hunger, malnutrition, and poverty across Africa. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive State Administrative and Logistic Officer to join our team in Abuja. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our agricultural research and youth agribusiness initiatives by ensuring the seamless execution of daily administrative, financial, and logistical operations at the state level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for state-level activities, workshops, training sessions, and Youth Agribusiness Park events, including venue booking and transport.
  • Manage general administrative functions, office supplies, asset registers, filing systems, and vendor service contracts.
  • Coordinate local procurement in compliance with IITA policies and manage the receipt, inventory, and distribution of program materials and starter kits.
  • Supervise state drivers, oversee vehicle maintenance, and manage fuel consumption alongside institutional safety protocols.
  • Handle petty cash management, expense retirements, and financial returns in coordination with the Project Accountant.
  • Support human resources administration, staff onboarding, travel arrangements, and stakeholder engagement with local communities and government offices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant administrative and logistics experience, preferably within an NGO, research institute, or international development program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong digital literacy for effective record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the state, including to rural and peri-urban locations.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to multitask within multidisciplinary teams.
