About the Role
Green Habitat Initiative (GHI) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and sustainable development policies across Nigeria. We are currently seeking passionate and experienced Stakeholder Engagement Officers to serve as our primary technical and institutional liaisons in Borno, Adamawa, or Yobe states. In this vital role, you will build strong collaborative partnerships with government ministries, local authorities, traditional leaders, and farming communities to facilitate the successful rollout of innovative agricultural digital platforms like agriFIMS and the Agro-weather Dissemination System.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with State Ministries of Agriculture, local government councils, and key agricultural development agencies.
- Lead community entry strategies, advocacy visits, and sensitization meetings with traditional rulers and farmer cooperative networks.
- Drive field adoption and user engagement for agriFIMS and the Agro-weather Dissemination System among extension workers and local farmers.
- Proactively identify, monitor, and mitigate political, operational, and community-level risks affecting project execution.
- Act as the frontline conflict resolution liaison between community actors, state authorities, and GHI technical implementation teams.
- Gather stakeholder feedback, contribute to donor progress reports, and document success stories and lessons learned.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Development Studies, Agricultural Extension, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in stakeholder management, government relations, community mobilization, or advocacy within donor-funded programs in Nigeria.
- At least 2 years of direct field experience working within Borno, Adamawa, or Yobe states (indigenes are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Exceptional interpersonal, diplomatic, and negotiation skills with high emotional intelligence and deep understanding of local socio-political dynamics.
- Fluency in English and working proficiency in Hausa are required; fluency in Kanuri or Fulfulde is highly desirable.
