About the Role
African Natural Resources & Mines Limited (ANRML), a proud subsidiary of African Industries Group, is seeking a skilled and hands-on Horticulture Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Kaduna State. In this role, you will oversee the daily maintenance, growth, and development of our expansive lawns, gardens, trees, and landscaped areas, ensuring our industrial and residential sites remain aesthetically pleasing, healthy, and environmentally compliant.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate daily horticultural, gardening, and landscaping activities across company sites.
- Oversee critical plant care operations including planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and pest/disease control.
- Monitor the overall health and growth of plants, trees, lawns, and ornamental gardens.
- Lead, train, evaluate, and allocate daily duties to gardeners and other horticultural workers.
- Develop work schedules to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
- Ensure the proper handling, maintenance, and storage of gardening tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Identify plant diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stressors, recommending effective treatments.
- Manage and monitor irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage across all landscaped zones.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of plant inventories, materials, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure full compliance with all workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Participate in landscape improvement projects, seasonal planting schemes, and new garden developments.
- Prepare regular operational reports and provide actionable recommendations to upper management.
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscaping, Botany, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in horticulture, commercial landscaping, gardening, or a supervisory role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tropical plant care, modern irrigation techniques, pruning, fertilization, and pest management.
- Proven track record of supervising, motivating, and managing a team of horticultural or manual workers.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors across varying weather conditions.
- Proficiency in operating and overseeing the maintenance of standard horticultural tools and heavy-duty equipment.
