About the Role

The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is looking for a dedicated Social Science Research Manager to organize and implement critical social science research activities at our project sites in Owo, Ondo State, and Irrua, Edo State. In this vital role, you will work under the scientific supervision of the WP7 co-PIs to manage local research teams, maintain high standards of data quality, and ensure strict adherence to ethical guidelines and participant confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the WP7 research team consisting of two social science field investigators across both study sites.
  • Coordinate the collection of qualitative data, including observations and individual interviews with community leaders, patients, and healthcare professionals.
  • Lead qualitative data analysis, interpretation of findings, and the drafting of comprehensive scientific reports and research papers.
  • Organize and lead specialized training sessions on the study protocol, recruitment strategies, and data collection tools.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, ethical protocols, and participant confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Human and Social Sciences (Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology) or Public/Global Health, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in conducting or supervising in-depth semi-structured interviews and transcriptions.
  • Proven expertise in qualitative data analysis tools such as MAXQDA, alongside strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Deep understanding of the sociocultural, political, and epidemiological context of Ondo and Edo States, with knowledge of Lassa disease being a distinct advantage.
  • Fluent in English and capable of communicating effectively in the primary Nigerian languages spoken in Owo and Irrua.
