About the Role

First Independent Power Limited (FIPL) is a leading power generation company in Nigeria, operating four gas turbine power plants across Rivers State with a combined installed capacity of 541MW. We are driven by a vision to be the most stable and reliable energy provider in the South-South region, significantly contributing to the national power grid. We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Power Plant Operator to join our dynamic team of engineering professionals in Rivers State.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and control plant equipment, gas turbines, and auxiliary systems efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to system alarms, troubleshoot anomalies, and perform root-cause fault analysis.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, operational checks, and equipment readings.
  • Support plant start-up, shutdown, and synchronization activities in compliance with operating procedures.
  • Strictly adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and protocols during all operational phases.
  • Maintain accurate logs of plant operations, maintenance activities, and shift handovers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Power Plant Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in a power generation or heavy industrial plant environment.
  • Must possess a valid NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
  • Professional certification with NSE or COREN is a strong added advantage.
  • Deep technical knowledge of power plant operations and robust fault analysis capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a solid understanding of industrial safety requirements.
