About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Senior Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer to join our team in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will support the design, implementation, and strengthening of project monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems, ensuring high-quality program delivery, accountability, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of the project Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning framework and tools.
- Conduct routine field monitoring visits, beneficiary verification, and data validation to ensure accuracy.
- Design and manage baseline, midline, and endline surveys, including developing terms of reference and training data collection teams.
- Oversee quantitative and qualitative data collection, database management, and the use of digital data platforms.
- Provide technical assistance, capacity building, and on-site mentoring to project staff and local partners.
- Contribute to data-driven reporting, document success stories, and promote best practices across operations.
- Ensure full compliance with donor regulations, Mercy Corps policies, safeguarding, and risk management procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of professional M&E or relevant research experience with international NGOs or development agencies.
- Proven ability to design qualitative and quantitative data collection tools with strong statistical analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, mobile data collection platforms, and statistical analysis software.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote project locations.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hausa or other local languages spoken in Katsina State is highly desirable.
- Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
