About the Role
Mshel Homes Limited, a leading independent real estate company in Abuja, Nigeria, is seeking a diligent and experienced Site Internal Control Officer to join our growing construction team. In this pivotal hybrid role combining construction oversight and accounting, you will be responsible for safeguarding project assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and monitoring on-site financial transactions to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular on-site inspections to monitor construction progress, building code compliance, and workmanship quality.
- Oversee subcontractor activities, identify deficiencies, and collaborate with project teams to implement corrective actions.
- Review project financial records, invoices, cost reports, and subcontractor billing for accuracy and discrepancies.
- Identify potential fraud risks, investigate control breaches, and develop preventive mechanisms.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, operational, and regulatory standards across all active sites.
- Prepare and present detailed internal control reports and audit findings to executive management.
- Collaborate closely with the accounting department to maintain accurate financial records and support automated control systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in construction, engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management, specifically within the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, building codes, and best industry practices.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost control.
- Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced spreadsheet applications.
