About the Role
Margaret Lawrence University (MLU) is a prestigious private tertiary institution established in 2022, committed to delivering top-tier education, research, and innovation in Nigeria. We are currently seeking a dedicated and competent Senior Technologist to join our Department of University Laboratories within the Laboratory Technical Services unit. In this vital role, you will provide critical technical support for academic teaching, advanced research, and practical laboratory sessions, ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for our students and faculty.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee daily operations within the university laboratories to support teaching and research activities.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and quality assurance standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare reagents, materials, and specimens required for practical laboratory classes and research projects.
- Train, guide, and mentor junior laboratory staff and students on safe and effective equipment handling.
- Maintain comprehensive inventory records of laboratory chemicals, equipment, and consumables.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Current and appropriate professional registration or license where applicable.
- Demonstrated relevant post-qualification experience commensurate with the senior technologist cadre in a tertiary institution or research facility.
- In-depth knowledge of modern laboratory equipment, quality assurance protocols, and safety standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and students.
