About the Role
Nutrition International is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Program Officer - Child Survival to lead our health and nutrition initiatives in Katsina and Jigawa states. In this impactful role, you will work closely with government allies, local communities, and key stakeholders to strengthen health systems and scale up life-saving child survival interventions, focusing specifically on vitamin A supplementation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of child survival and vitamin A supplementation programs across Katsina and Jigawa states.
- Manage and mentor a large team, including over 20 Local Government Area Coordinators and 2 State Coordinators.
- Develop project budgets, ensure robust financial tracking via NI systems, and maintain up-to-date landscape analyses.
- Coordinate closely with the Ministry of Health, UN agencies, and NGOs to align program execution and drive high coverage rates.
- Facilitate research, evaluation, and knowledge translation activities to inform policy and improve field-level practices.
- Postgraduate degree (Master's minimum) in nutrition, public health, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in child survival, health, and nutrition programs within resource-limited settings, including 3+ years of field experience.
- Demonstrated expertise managing grant-funded health programs, specifically within Northern Nigeria.
- In-depth understanding of the Nigerian health system and local community structures in Katsina and Jigawa.
- Proven track record in leadership, cross-functional team management, and government stakeholder engagement.
