About the Role

As a Senior POS Mobile Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building, optimizing, and maintaining high-performance Android-based POS applications deployed across large-scale transaction environments throughout Nigeria and beyond. You will collaborate closely with Mobile Architects, Backend Engineers, Product Managers, and Hardware teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable payment features.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain advanced Android-based POS terminal applications using Kotlin and Java.
- Own end-to-end development of core transaction flows including sales, refunds, reversals, and settlements.
- Integrate EMV chip, contactless NFC, and card-present transaction flows while adhering to strict payment security best practices.
- Manage hardware integrations for POS peripherals such as card readers, pin pads, thermal printers, and barcode scanners.
- Implement offline-first capabilities and robust edge-case handling for low-connectivity environments.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code and actively mentor mid-level engineers to foster technical excellence.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in Android mobile application development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Deep expertise in native Android development using Kotlin and Java.
- Demonstrated experience building or maintaining POS terminal applications and integrating hardware payment SDKs.
- Solid understanding of EMV standards, cryptographic key management, and secure coding practices in financial systems.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, WebSockets, local storage solutions like Room or SQLite, and offline sync mechanisms.
