About the Role
PalmPay is building a comprehensive ecosystem delivering millions of customers with exceptional value in digital and financial services. We are seeking a Senior Legal Manager – Financial Litigation & Regulatory Disputes to lead our litigation and regulatory investigation portfolio across Africa. You will develop sophisticated litigation strategies, manage high-value disputes, and provide executive legal counsel on complex financial and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute litigation strategy from pre-action assessment through judgment, appeal, settlement, and enforcement
- Lead banking, fintech, commercial, regulatory, and financial crime litigation matters
- Manage complex fraud, unauthorized transactions, chargeback, and asset recovery cases
- Direct responses to injunctions, garnishee orders, freezing orders, and preservation orders
- Represent the company before key regulators including CBN, EFCC, NFIU, and FCCPC
- Coordinate internal investigations involving fraud, AML, sanctions, and financial crime compliance
- Manage external law firms, litigation budgets, and legal strategy across multiple jurisdictions
- Advise executive management on legal risk, crisis response, and sensitive matters
- Establish litigation governance, reporting frameworks, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- LL.B degree and admission to practice in Nigeria (LL.M preferred)
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience in legal practice
- At least 5 years leading litigation for banks, fintechs, or regulated financial institutions
- Extensive experience in commercial litigation, banking litigation, and regulatory enforcement
- Proven expertise drafting pleadings, affidavits, witness statements, and legal submissions
- Strong courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
- Experience managing high-value disputes (NGN 1 billion and above)
- Demonstrated ability supervising external counsel across multiple jurisdictions
