The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is seeking a qualified Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Anthropology to join its esteemed Faculty of Social Sciences. This academic leadership role involves advanced teaching, rigorous research, and mentoring the next generation of scholars in a vibrant federal university environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students within the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Supervise undergraduate research projects, master's theses, and doctoral dissertations. Conduct groundbreaking academic research and publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals. Contribute actively to departmental administration, curriculum development, and faculty committee meetings. Mentor junior academic staff and participate in community engagement and outreach initiatives.
QualificationsCandidates must possess a minimum of a First Degree with a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division alongside a PhD in Sociology, Anthropology, or a closely related field. A doctoral degree (PhD) is mandatory. Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level. A strong track record of at least eight (8) peer-reviewed publications in recognized academic journals is required. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential.
