About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a prestigious federal university known for academic excellence and vibrant cultural heritage. We are currently seeking a dedicated and accomplished Senior Lecturer in Music to join our esteemed Department of Arts. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of musical talents, conducting groundbreaking research, and contributing to the academic community through innovative teaching and curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical training in music theory, history, and performance to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects, including theses and dissertations.
- Conduct high-quality research and publish peer-reviewed articles in reputable national and international academic journals.
- Contribute to departmental curriculum enhancement, academic program development, and quality assurance processes.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, community engagement initiatives, and academic mentoring.
- Possession of a PhD in Music or a closely related field from a recognized and accredited institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
- Must possess a minimum of eight (8) peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
- A first degree with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division combined with a PhD.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students and collaborate effectively with academic colleagues.
