About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is seeking a dedicated and accomplished Senior Lecturer in Film and Multi-Media Studies to join the Department of Communication and Media Studies. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in the academic advancement of the department. Your core duties will include:
- Delivering engaging lectures and practical training in Film and Multi-Media Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Supervising undergraduate and graduate research projects, theses, and dissertations.
- Conducting impactful, peer-reviewed research and contributing to the body of knowledge in film, media arts, and digital communication.
- Participating in departmental, faculty, and university-wide administrative duties and committees.
- Mentoring junior academic staff and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Engaging in curriculum review and development to align with global media industry standards and NUC guidelines.
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following rigorous academic and professional standards:
- Possession of a PhD in Film Studies, Multi-Media Studies, Communication, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
- A strong publication record comprising a minimum of eight (8) peer-reviewed articles in reputable national and international journals.
- A foundational first degree with not less than a Second-Class Upper Division, OR a Second-Class Lower Division accompanied by a relevant PhD.
- Demonstrated expertise in practical film production, digital media, or multimedia storytelling is a strong advantage.
