About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a dedicated and visionary Senior Lecturer in Data Science to join our dynamic Department of Computing. Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging, high-quality lectures, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions in Data Science and related computing subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Conduct impactful, peer-reviewed research and actively contribute to the academic reputation of the University through publications in reputable journals.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental administration, and academic committee work.
- Secure research grants, foster industry partnerships, and engage in community service initiatives relevant to data science applications.
- Must possess a PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related computing discipline.
- A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
- Must have a minimum of eight (8) peer-reviewed publications in reputable local and international academic journals.
- Must possess a First Degree with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, OR a Second-Class Lower Division with a PhD.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students, collaborate on multidisciplinary research, and secure academic funding.
