About the Role
The Federal University Otuoke (FUO), established by the Federal Government of Nigeria, invites applications from suitably qualified academics for the position of Senior Lecturer in Animal Science and Sustainable Livestock Systems within our vibrant Faculty of Agriculture. Located in Bayelsa State, our institution is committed to academic excellence, innovative research, and community development. As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of agricultural scientists by delivering high-quality instruction, conducting impactful research, and mentoring students in sustainable livestock practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following duties:
- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Animal Science and Sustainable Livestock Systems.
- Initiate, develop, and supervise independent research projects for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Contribute significantly to the academic literature through scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed local and international journals.
- Provide academic counseling, mentorship, and career guidance to students within the Faculty of Agriculture.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, administrative duties, and community service initiatives.
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a good B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degree or equivalent professional qualifications in Animal Science or a closely related field from a recognized and accredited university.
- Demonstrate a strong background in teaching and research within an approved tertiary institution, in accordance with university guidelines.
- Provide a robust portfolio of scholarly publications in reputable academic journals.
- Exhibit a demonstrable ability to initiate, develop, and successfully supervise independent research projects.
- Meet all other requirements as stipulated in the Federal University Otuoke Rules and Regulation Governing Conditions of Service of Senior Staff.
