About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Senior Lecturer in Animal and Environmental Biology to join our vibrant academic community in Benin City, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in advancing our Department of Life Science through rigorous teaching, groundbreaking research, and dedicated mentorship of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions in Animal and Environmental Biology.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Conduct high-impact, independent research and secure research grants in relevant ecological and biological sciences.
- Publish scholarly articles in reputable, peer-reviewed national and international journals.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees to contribute to institutional development and academic governance.
- Mentor junior academic staff and contribute to curriculum development within the Department of Life Science.
- Possession of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Animal and Environmental Biology or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
- An impressive academic portfolio with a minimum of eight (8) peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals.
- A strong foundational academic record, including a first degree with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division combined with a PhD.
