About the Role

The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a premier federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science to join our esteemed Department of Management Science. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of financial and risk management professionals through rigorous teaching, groundbreaking research, and dedicated academic mentorship within a vibrant scholarly community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Actuarial Science and related Management Science courses.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects, theses, and dissertations.
  • Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research and contribute regularly to academic journals.
  • Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide administrative duties and committees.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement in line with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards.
  • Mentor junior academic staff and foster a culture of academic excellence and integrity.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a PhD in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Insurance, or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) quality peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
  • A first degree with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, OR a Second-Class Lower Division accompanied by a completed PhD.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract research grants and collaborate across disciplines is an added advantage.
