About the Role
Hobark International Limited (HIL) is a premier provider of integrated services to the oil and gas industry, operating across multiple countries with our head office in Lagos. We are currently looking for a talented Senior Instrumentation and Automation Engineer to drive the design, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced control systems. In this critical role, you will provide technical leadership across projects, ensuring our operations remain safe, reliable, efficient, and fully compliant with global industry standards while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead instrumentation and automation engineering activities for major projects and plant upgrades.
- Prepare and review P&IDs, Instrument Datasheets, I/O Lists, Loop Diagrams, Control Philosophies, and Cause & Effect matrices.
- Support the design and configuration of PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Manage FAT, SAT, commissioning, start-up, loop checking, and complex troubleshooting.
- Participate actively in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and SIL safety assessments.
- Review vendor documentation and technical deliverables to guarantee adherence to project specs.
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant engineering experience within the oil and gas or heavy industrial sectors.
- Deep working knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and SIS platforms.
- Hands-on experience with major automation brands such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Honeywell, Emerson, or Yokogawa.
- Proven expertise in process control, control valves, instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong background in plant commissioning, troubleshooting, and start-up operations.
- Certification or working knowledge in Functional Safety and SIL is a distinct advantage.
