About the Role
Dangote Group is seeking an experienced Senior General Manager, Power Plant to lead our captive power generation and energy management functions in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical leadership role, you will ensure 100 percent reliable, cost-effective, and efficient power supply to support large-scale cement manufacturing while driving operational excellence, sustainability, and strict compliance with corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee operations of Captive Power Plants (CPP) utilizing coal and gas, alongside Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to all kiln lines, grinding units, and auxiliary manufacturing systems.
- Lead preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance programs to guarantee high availability of boilers, turbines, generators, and balance of plant systems.
- Optimize specific power consumption, heat rates, and thermal efficiency while driving plant-wide energy initiatives.
- Manage overall power generation costs, fuel mix strategies, and fuel-per-kWh reduction targets.
- Champion Dangote's Zero Harm safety culture and ensure full compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements and HSE policies.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering and operations team focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with COREN registration or equivalent preferred.
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
- 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in power generation or heavy continuous process manufacturing.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years in a senior leadership role at a General Manager or Head of Department level.
