About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking a strategic and highly experienced Senior General Manager - Mechanical for our operations in Lagos, Nigeria. In this executive leadership role, you will hold overall responsibility for the safe maintenance, repair, and optimization of heavy industrial plant mechanical equipment, driving operational excellence and cost leadership across our manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive maintenance strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Manage plant maintenance programs using cement industry best practices, prioritizing preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Ensure zero unplanned downtime by constantly reviewing equipment performance and proactively solving engineering challenges.
- Enforce strict safety programs, compliance, and standard operating procedures across all mechanical departments.
- Oversee capital and operating expenditures to maintain cost-effective control over manpower and material resources.
- Manage, mentor, and upskill maintenance engineers and technicians for optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Implement and maintain a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders and spare parts inventory.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 27 years of extensive hands-on and leadership experience in repairs and maintenance within cement manufacturing plants.
- In-depth technical knowledge of heavy industrial plant maintenance and cement manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in team leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional communication.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and computerized maintenance systems.
