About the Role
Proten, an international Human Capital Development firm with offices in London and Lagos, is recruiting a Senior Facilities Engineer-Advisor for a client requiring expert technical leadership across oil & gas, LNG, gas processing, pipeline, and energy infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to influence project success through technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide senior technical advisory and independent engineering assurance throughout the project lifecycle
- Review and approve critical engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, and technical reports
- Advise on facility design, equipment selection, process configuration, and engineering optimization strategies
- Deliver technical input on cost estimation, scope definition, risk assessment, and project planning
- Evaluate technical queries, design changes, and non-conformances with expert judgment
- Support contractor and vendor evaluations, tender reviews, and contract negotiations
- Conduct site visits and technical assessments to resolve engineering and operational challenges
- Champion construction, commissioning, start-up, and operations readiness activities
- Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ISO, NFPA, and regulatory requirements
- Mentor engineering teams and promote best practices across technical disciplines
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering
- Minimum 20 years of post-graduate engineering experience in oil & gas or energy sectors
- Extensive facilities engineering experience including FEED, EPC execution, and technical advisory
- Proven expertise in upstream facilities, LNG/gas processing, pipelines, or terminals
- Strong proficiency in process design, equipment selection, cost estimation, and risk assessment
- Advanced knowledge of API, ASME, and applicable engineering standards
- Experience with HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, process safety, and asset integrity preferred
- Proficiency with process simulation, hydraulic analysis, CAD software, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent technical, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities
