About the Role
Flutterwave is on a mission to power a new wave of prosperity across Africa by building the digital payments infrastructure for the 21st century. We are looking for a Senior Core Support Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance, and uptime of our cross-border payment platforms in Lagos, Nigeria. In this largely autonomous role, you will diagnose complex technical issues, lead high-severity incident resolutions, and analyze transaction data to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve complex transaction processing issues, middleware anomalies, and integration faults across distributed microservices.
- Build script-based automations to eliminate repetitive friction points and streamline routine support workflows.
- Monitor system health using cloud-native logging and APM tools to catch potential anomalies before outages occur.
- Analyze transaction success rates and failure patterns across various payment rails and providers.
- Maintain operational decision frameworks and collaborate with engineering and ops leadership to optimize provider routing.
- Author clear technical documentation, runbooks, and integration guides while mentoring junior engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Application Support, DevOps, Site Reliability, or Payment/Technical Operations within fintech or high-volume transactional platforms.
- Strong proficiency in database inquiries, log analysis, and root cause investigation.
- Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring tools, Jira, and support platforms.
- ITIL Practitioner, AWS, or GCP certifications are highly preferred.
