About the Role
M-KOPA is a fast-growing FinTech company offering millions of underbanked customers across Africa access to life-enhancing products and services. From our roots as a pioneer in pay-as-you-go solar energy, we have grown into one of the most advanced connected asset financing platforms in the world. We are currently seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to help scale M-KOPA Mobility, our fast-growing e-mobility business, on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own your solutions end-to-end, from architecture decisions to production monitoring. Your day-to-day contributions will directly shape clean, affordable transport for riders and entrepreneurs across Africa.
- Build sophisticated event-driven microservices using C# and .NET.
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable infrastructure within Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Implement robust observability and monitoring practices using Prometheus and Grafana.
- Drive automated testing across all environments, including production, within a DevOps culture.
- Leverage modern AI coding tools, such as Claude Code, to optimize the software development lifecycle.
We are looking for collaborative engineers who value high-quality output, infrastructure as code, and continuous delivery.
- Strong technical expertise in C# and .NET development.
- Proven experience designing and building microservices architecture and event-driven systems using Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Hands-on cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools including Kubernetes and Docker.
- Demonstrated experience with observability frameworks like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Strong commitment to DevOps practices, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code.
