About the Role
Korapay is the marketplace for everything payments, empowering businesses and institutions to scale faster through a powerful core payment engine that simplifies transactions. As our finance operations expand across Africa, we are looking for a sharp, driven Senior Associate, Financial Accounting and Control to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will be instrumental in elevating the quality, integrity, and scalability of our financial reporting, statutory compliance, and internal control environment while working alongside top-tier talent in the fintech industry.
Key Responsibilities- Own the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reporting packs, and balance sheet reconciliations in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
- Assess complex financial transactions, research applicable accounting guidance, and author clear technical accounting memos supporting management judgements and estimates.
- Coordinate comprehensive tax computations, statutory filings, intercompany transactions, and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance across all Kora entities.
- Drive external audit readiness by managing schedules, addressing technical accounting queries, and tracking audit findings through to effective remediation.
- Evaluate existing financial processes and internal controls, identifying reporting risks and implementing sustainable, scalable improvements.
- Support consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities to ensure consistent application of accounting methodologies and financial disclosures.
- Enhance financial reporting efficiency through enhanced documentation, process standardisation, and the optimal use of finance systems and data.
- Possession of a recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, ICAN, CPA, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in external audit, financial reporting, or accounting advisory, ideally within a Big Four or leading professional services firm.
- Strong, hands-on working knowledge of IFRS and its application to complex business transactions.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-entity consolidations, tax compliance, and rigorous external audit deliverables.
- Previous experience working within financial services, fintech, banking, or another heavily regulated industry.
- Exceptional analytical skills, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical financial concepts clearly to senior stakeholders.
