About the Role
AgriFood Digital Library and Resource Center, in partnership with an international development company, is seeking a qualified Senior Agronomist for a multi-year agricultural development programme in Nigeria. This role focuses on strengthening ginger and sesame value chains through improved productivity, climate-smart agriculture, and last-mile service delivery. Note that this position is subject to project award and funding approval.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and implementation of agronomic strategies to improve productivity, profitability, and resilience in ginger and sesame production.
- Develop and standardise practical Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) materials and training guides for extension delivery.
- Design, manage, and evaluate demonstration plots to showcase improved technologies and climate-smart practices.
- Build technical capacity among entrepreneurs, producer clusters, extension agents, and field teams.
- Forge strong partnerships with research institutions, input companies, and private-sector organisations to scale agricultural innovations.
- Master’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Extension, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in agronomy, crop production, or large-scale agricultural development programmes.
- Strong practical knowledge of ginger and sesame production systems and climate-smart agriculture.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and developing farmer training programs.
- Experience working with private-sector input suppliers and agricultural technology providers.
