About the Role

Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger, saving the lives of malnourished children, and providing communities with safe water and sustainable solutions. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as a Security, Safety and Access Officer in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will help safeguard our personnel, assets, and operations while facilitating safe humanitarian access across our areas of intervention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and transmit real-time information on political and security contexts, establishing robust staff reporting systems and local contact networks.
  • Implement base safety and security management systems, including risk analysis workshops, incident action plans, and building and road assessments.
  • Supervise security guards in coordination with logistics and manage the safety protocols for staff and vehicle movements.
  • Lead humanitarian access negotiations with relevant stakeholders, authorities, and local leaders in operational areas.
  • Conduct comprehensive safety briefings for new employees and visitors, and organize context-awareness training sessions for teams.
  • Liaise effectively with government ministries, local authorities, and community leaders to secure necessary administrative movement authorisations.

Qualifications
  • University Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrable safety and security management experience with an international or local NGO.
  • Strong existing network of key stakeholders across security, political, social, cultural, and religious sectors in North West Nigeria.
  • Extensive knowledge of the humanitarian context in Katsina State with proven access negotiation experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills with fluency in both English and Hausa.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, manage heavy workloads, and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is considered a strong added advantage.
