About the Role
Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi) is seeking a vigilant and dedicated Security Officer to join our team in North East Nigeria. FOURCi is a non-profit organization comprised of academics, environmentalists, agricultural, health, and building experts, alongside community volunteers, united to safeguard our climate future. Currently operating with a special focus on Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states, our interventions span climate education, sustainable livelihoods, gender-based protection, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and WASH. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our staff, assets, and project sites, ensuring our humanitarian missions are conducted without disruption.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain the security of FOURCi office premises, equipment, and residential facilities in the assigned BAY states.
- Conduct regular patrols of the organization's properties and report any suspicious activities or security breaches immediately.
- Control access to the premises by screening visitors, staff, vehicles, and contractors in line with organizational security protocols.
- Provide safety briefings and orientation to newly onboarded staff, visitors, and volunteers regarding regional security guidelines.
- Liaise with local security agencies, community leaders, and NGO security networks to gather actionable intelligence and security updates.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies, accidents, or incidents and coordinate appropriate intervention or evacuation procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs of visitors, vehicle movements, incident reports, and security equipment inventory.
- Possess a minimum of an SSCE, OND, or equivalent relevant qualification in security management or a related field.
- Proven professional experience working as a security officer, preferably within an NGO, humanitarian sector, or corporate environment.
- Familiarity with the security context and terrain of the North East Nigeria region, specifically Borno, Adamawa, or Yobe states.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English and local languages.
- High level of integrity, alertness, physical fitness, and sound judgment during crisis situations.
- Possession of specialized security training or certifications will be an added advantage.
