About the Role
Taqwa Private Schools, a prestigious co-educational Islamic and secular institution located in Ifako-Ijaiye, Agege, Lagos, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced School Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will oversee the financial health of our daycare, primary, and college sections, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and adherence to regulatory standards while supporting our mission to deliver world-class education.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including school fee collections, payroll processing, procurement, and expense tracking.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for school management and the board of directors.
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax laws, statutory remittances including PAYE and pensions, and internal financial policies.
- Develop, monitor, and manage the institutional budget to optimize resource allocation across all school departments.
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets, conduct periodic audits, and liaise seamlessly with external auditors and financial institutions.
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably within the education sector.
- Demonstrated proficiency in accounting software applications and advanced Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of Nigerian tax regulations, payroll administration, and statutory compliance frameworks.
- High level of personal integrity, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills.
- Relevant professional certifications such as ACA or ACCA will be a distinct advantage.
