About the Role
New Incentives is a US-based nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives in developing countries through health-related cash transfer programs. We support pregnant women with at-risk pregnancies by providing conditional cash transfers that encourage adherence to vital medical treatments. We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety & Security Officer to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will help safeguard our staff, assets, and operations while facilitating the successful delivery of our life-saving humanitarian mission.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain regular security communications with field officers, clinic staff, and community stakeholders, prioritizing high and medium-risk locations.
- Conduct thorough security assessments for operational clinics, local government areas, hotels, training venues, and transport vendors.
- Review reported security incidents, analyze context, and provide actionable recommendations to field managers.
- Draft comprehensive security reports and coordinate initial steps for incident management, escalating critical issues to senior leadership.
- Shadow field teams during clinic visits to evaluate security compliance and identify training gaps.
- Support expatriate visits and assist with context analysis in multicultural operational environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a safety and security role within an NGO or humanitarian organization.
- Background in military or paramilitary security forces is preferred.
- Full professional proficiency in English and Hausa (spoken and written).
- Willingness to reside in designated operational states (Katsina/Jigawa) upon resumption and conduct frequent field missions on short notice.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office, internet tools, and modern mobile applications.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and crisis-management abilities.
