About the Role

As we continue to expand our operations in Nigeria, we are looking for a proactive Safety Officer to monitor daily terminal activities, identify potential hazards, and foster a robust safety culture among employees, contractors, and port workers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol cargo areas to identify unsafe acts or conditions, such as improper stacking of dangerous goods or faulty crane operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with international and national maritime safety frameworks and workplace regulations.
  • Verify the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and oversee the maintenance of safety and rescue equipment.
  • Conduct routine safety inductions, engaging toolbox talks, and emergency drills for port workers and stevedores.
  • Monitor workplace safety practices, report hazards promptly, and collaborate with management on corrective actions.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents thoroughly, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support emergency response procedures, readiness initiatives, and prepare accurate, timely safety reports.
  • Promote ongoing employee safety awareness and active engagement across all operational levels.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 0 to 3 years of professional experience in a safety or HSE-related role, preferably within logistics, maritime, or terminal operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HSE principles, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
  • Familiarity with fire prevention, emergency response procedures, and basic first aid principles.
  • Strong observation skills, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
